What a blast we had! We celebrated Ashley's birthday on Sept. 6th with our family. This is who came: Dad and Deb, Mom, Grama Ardee, Lorraine, Russ and Jean, Jessica, Jay, Jonah, and Sasha. Mike had his Reserve weekend so he came late. We had a nice time visiting and eating lots of food. Mom came and made the best sandwiches ever! Ham/turkey, provolone cheese on crescent rolls w/ olive oil and Italian seasoning... broiled... easy and yummy! Grama brought a cheese ball and her famous chicken salad. Lorraine brought wrap sandwiches and Jean brought guacamole and chips! Jessica brought fruit too. We had sooo much food. This is all on top of what I made. We opened gifts and we ate Ashley's home made butterfly cake. This was my very first homemade cake. We decorated the butterfly w/ candies (gummy lifesavers, jelly beans, licorice, and gumdrops). Of course I only have video and no pics of it.
That morning Patti and Jamie came over for breakfast and they made us apple cinnamon pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs. It was such a nice day.
We had Ashley's party/overnight with girlfriends on Sat. the 13th. WOW!
We had 9 girls and 2 boys. :) Abby, Leah, Caitlyn, Rylee, Adeline, Melia, Gaby, Ashley, Addi, and Brianna, Myles and Manny. Caitlyn, Rylee and Abby spent the night. I am so thankful for Sandra, Joanna, and Jamie for all of their help decorating and for their help w/ games and organizing. Also, thankful for Mel who came with sugar cookie dough ready to go for the sucker cookies and her willingness to jump in and help w./ anything. After the girls arrived we first decorated their treat bags. Then 1/2 of the girls made their sucker cookies and the other 1/2 came through the line to fill their treat bags with necklaces, bracelets, lip gloss, candy, fishies, and pencils. Then we swapped groups. Next we had the kids to games (bean bag toss and musical chairs) They all won prizes and put them in their bags. Next we had them line up to make their trail mix. Then we came to the table and ate mean/cheese and fruit kabobs, and snacks while we waited for the pizza. We opened gifts, then ate the pizza! Then it was finally free play! The girls had Ashley's entire bedroom floor covered with toys. We couldn't even see the floor! Next was "happy birthday" and dessert! We had cupcakes decorated to form a caterpillar, jello, marsh mellow salad, and ice cream sandwich sundae! Last, they came up two by two and made their project, "God's eye (memory keeper)".
Then by this time it was 5:30 and the girls who would not be sleeping over went home and the rest of the girls were up playing and watching princess movies until 11:00 pm. And... wouldn't you know it they were up at 7:00 am at it again. Whoa! We had a blast and everyone was so well behaved and helped clean up too. For all we did it was easy and fun.. Many hands make light work. I am very thankful for friends and family.
What a blessing to share this with Ashley. Myles and Addi had a great time too.
